News from verified sources: X search recipes

Posts that link to news sites, statements from checkmarked accounts, curated lists and local headlines.

Chapter notes

Breaking news on X moves fast and arrives mixed with guesses. These recipes push the results toward sourced posts. filter:news keeps posts that link to sites X classifies as news. X does not publish that list, so treat it as a rough filter. url: narrows to posts linking a specific site.

filter:verified has a messier history. It once meant the old blue checkmark, which no longer exists in that form; today checkmarks can mean a paid subscription, a verified organization or a government account, and the operator's exact behavior is not documented by X. Use it to cut noise, never as proof that a source is reliable.

The most dependable recipe here is the list one. Build a public or private list of outlets and reporters you trust, then search inside it with list: and the list's number from its URL. You decide who is on it, which no filter can do for you.
